Is may an unlucky month to get married?

Are you planning to get married in May? Have you ever heard that May is an unlucky month to get married? The fear of marrying in May actually dates back to the Romans, who held their festival for the dead in May,there's even a nursery rhyme that reads, "Marry in the month of May, and you'll surely rue the day." May is named for "Maia"goddess of fertility and death. But for me,I won't belief this kind of superstition because I know many people who wed in May and they are very successful with their married life with so much blessings.

The Chinese on the other hand, love to celebrate  May Day and the month of May with marriage. Biblically speaking, marriage is a sacred vow between a man and woman and every month of the year is the best month to get married with the right person of your life.

Where  do  you  put  the  wedding  ring? left  or  right hand?

Are you so excited for your wedding? Well,  being excited about your wedding is a normal feeling especially if you are going to wear the most expensive wedding ring on your big day! But do you know already where to put your expensive wedding ring?is it on the finger of your left or right hand?
Traditionally, wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. This practice started during the Greek and Roman times for they believed that there was a vein in the left ring finger known as " vena amoris" or the "vein of love" which ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart. Even if this popular traditional myth is not true because all the fingers in our hand have a similar vein structure, this practice is still strictly observed in the U.S until today! In the Philippines, based on our research some couples prefer to wear their wedding rings on their left hand ring fingers while some on their right hand ring fingers. In other words,Wearing of the wedding ring (left or right) depends on the country, culture where one lives and has grown up and personal preferences or habits.

So, you're welcome to wear your wedding ring on the right or left hand since there is no specific rule on which finger the wedding ring should be placed especially in the Philippines.
Below is the list of countries where couples wear their wedding rings on their right hand ring fingers.
Germany
Belgium
Austria
Norway

Poland
Russia
Denmark
India
Ukraine
Bulgaria
Latvia
Good luck on your wedding day!

Who  KNew? 3 interesting  Facts about wedding traditions

1/1/2018

Comments

I've been working in the wedding industry for 10 years now and one of my main responsibilities is to promote our company online, creating ads, updating our website,blogging,etc..  Our company has already served more than 5,000 weddings and just this past December 2017 or 1 month alone, we served 230 weddings. Eveyday I witness almost 9 weddings and I already memorized the sequence of a wedding ceremony  , the traditional wearing of a wedding ring, tossing of a bouquet by the bride, etc.

But have you ever taken a  minute to consider the purpose of these wedding traditions that we still practice until today?Probably not because you're busy planning your romantic wedding, right?Anyway, don't worry because before your wedding happens you would know already at least 3 of these wedding traditions,of course! after reading this article.
1.)  Why engagement & wedding rings are worn on the 4th finger of the left hand?
It's because the Greeks and the Romans believed there was a vein in the left ring finger known as "Vena Amoris" or the "vein of love" which ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart.
But this popular traditional myth is not really true because all the fingers in our hand have a similar vein structure and there is no special vein in the left hand ring finger that connects to the heart of a person. :)
Biblically speaking, the right hand is symbolic of ruler-ship,authority,sovereignty,
blessing and strength. Genesis 48: 17 -19  emphasizes the blessing of laying the right hand was greater than the left hand.
The wearing of a wedding and engagement ring (left or right) depends on the country and culture where one lives and has grown up.Generally,Germans wear a wedding ring on their right hand while Americans strictly on their left hand.

2.) Why Bridesmaids are required to dress exactly like the bride?
It's because the Romans believed that the evil spirits would attend in the wedding ceremony in order to curse the bride and the groom. For this reason, the Bridesmaids are required to dress exactly like the bride just to confuse the evil spirits and bring luck to the marriage.
3.) Why There Is Always A Cake In A Wedding?

This tradition started in Roman times where the guests broke a loaf of bread over the head of the bride in order to ensure fertility and bring good fortune to the couple.

I will add more fascinating wedding traditions that we still practice today in my next post. :)

By the way, if you want to avail of 35% OFF on wedding packages, tons of exciting freebies and a chance to win: 1st prize: entourage, ceremony & reception package, 2nd prize: wall flower back drop & 3rd prize: complete entourage package (Jan.30, 2018 raffle draw), please click the register online button above.
